Annual Meeting and Appreciation Event Recap

On Thursday, September 28th, we celebrated with Richmond Habitat’s Annual Meeting and Appreciation Event. Staff, Board members, volunteers and community partners attended to hear about the successes of the organization over the past year and the impact that we’ve made on the lives of our homeowners.

FY2023 Impact

From July 2022 – June 2023, we served a total of 40 families! We had 11 partner families close on their homes; 25 families receive critical home repairs in Richmond, Chesterfield and Henrico; 2 families served through our new Affordable Rental Program; and 2 international families who benefited from our tithe to Habitat for Humanity International. The overall Average Area Median Income (AMI) served through programs was 45%, which equals $38,390 for a family of two.

We also had a great year for volunteers on our build sites and in our ReStores! We had 2,042 volunteers fill 5,197 shifts for a total of 31,245 hours. Our dedicated weekday crews continue to show up for Richmond Habitat with our Build Weekday Crew contributing 7,505 hours and our ReStore Weekday Crew contributing 687 hours. A special shout-out to Bill Burch, Larry Buchanan, Rick Fish and Rich Lundvall who have all volunteered with Habitat from over 20 years!
Thanks to generous in-kind donors, our ReStores picked up 2,217 donations helping to divert 2.8 million pounds of useable materials from landfills! We had 50,000 customers purchase 161,000 items, helping us keep the cost of homeownership affordable for Habitat families.

We Can and We Will!

We wrapped up the meeting with some words from our CEO, Madelyn Peay, about where we are headed in the future with our strategic plan. Our goal is to be at the forefront of the industry in creating diverse and innovative pathways to provide  access to quality affordable rental housing and homeownership opportunities o families with low income. In partnership with these families, we will unlock the door to housing stability, hope, prosperity, and the realization of their dreams.

Thank you to everyone who attended and a huge thank you to Whitney Guthrie, our Director of Community Engagement, for planning this incredible event!
