ReStore Builds Non-Traditional Homes, Too

Jes was studying to become a real estate agent when she first started thinking about buying a home. She and her partner Derek started looking at options. It was a seller’s market. “I realized when the market bottomed out, we would be stuck,” she explained. They were hesitant to go into debt to be in a situation that limited their life choices.

Each week, they visit the ReStore with a list and grab what they can find. They consider ways to repurpose available materials. Their favorite find is a century old wood stove they named Marge.

Help Revitalize the Richmond Community, Today

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of affordable, safe housing remains a critical problem in our area. Habitat for Humanity in the Richmond Metropolitan area is committed to making affordable and safe housing a reality for low-income families. And with the help of donations, volunteers, proceeds from our ReStore, and hard work from our home buyers, we’re making that dream possible for hundreds of residents in the Richmond Metropolitan area.
