We are grateful for the many ways the community supports Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity! Another valuable way to contribute is helping us locate buildable land and homes we can renovate to sell, enabling us to continue making homeownership accessible to low-income families.
As land values continue to rise and the supply of buildable lots diminishes, the demand for affordable housing increases, as demonstrated by the 340 applications we received in March 2023. Our ability to meet the growing need for more affordable homes is heavily dependent upon our ability to receive donations of buildable land and properties that can be rehabilitated.
We are looking for lots that allow us to build more densely, but we will happily accept donations for a variety of property types including single-family and multi-family homes. Additionally, we’ve outgrown our current headquarters and are in search of donated commercial office space.
By donating commercial office space, lots where we can construct new homes or by donating homes that we can renovate, you support our mission to create affordable homes to sell to families working through our Homeownership program. Removing or reducing our costs to purchase land helps us keep our mission homes affordable.
