Habitat on the Hill 2022 Recap!

Habitat on the Hill 2022 Recap!

In February we participated in Habitat for Humanity, International’s Virtual Habitat on the Hill conference! Affiliates from across the country were able to meet with their federal legislators virtually and advocate for programs that will help to increase access to safe, affordable homes.

We focused on two main asks:

  • Support the creation of the Community Restoration & Revitalization Fund
  • Increase funding for vital federal funding programs for housing in the FY22 budget – (SHOP, HOME, & USDA 502 Loans)

Virginia affiliates were able to meet with staff from the offices of Representatives McEachin, Spanberger, Wittman, Wexton, Cline, and Good and the offices of Senator Warner and Kaine! It was a whirlwind of an afternoon, but we feel good knowing so many of our legislators support our housing priorities!

Interested in advocating for these issues? Here’s a link where you can send an email directly to your legislators about these priorities!

If you have any questions about the legislative asks listed above, or are interested in attending Habitat on the Hill next year, please reach out to Kristin at kvinagro@richmondhabitat.org.
