Volunteer Spotlight: Marquita Edmonds, Board and Committee Member

1. How many years have you been volunteering with Richmond Habitat?

I have been volunteering with Richmond Habitat for Humanity for about 14 years, including the year and a half spent completing my sweat equity hours to become a Habitat homeowner.

2. What types of volunteer roles have you had with the organization?

In addition to my role on the Board, I have volunteered individually on build sites, in the ReStore, and as part of a team with Hourigan colleagues on varying sites, including joining our Women’s ERG for the annual Women’s Build.

I also serve on the Strategic Planning Committee and the new Homeowner’s Council, a group that helps establish processes and procedures to benefit current and future homeowners.

3. What have you enjoyed most about your volunteer experiences with Richmond Habitat?

What I have enjoyed most about volunteering with Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity is the fulfillment of knowing that each shift brings a deserving family closer to their new home and a safe environment. Experiencing firsthand how much this support has meant to me and my family, positioning us to thrive and reach the next level, I am passionate about providing the same opportunity for others to truly flourish.
