Gift-in-Kind Donations

What are Gift-in-Kind Donations?

When organizations donate goods or services, those donations are considered gifts-in-kind. Richmond Habitat is grateful for any in-kind gifts like building materials, furniture, appliances, and more.

One of our most valued gifts-in-kind are the materials used to build homes. Habitat for Humanity regularly ranks as one of the top 20 homebuilders in the United States and is the largest privately held homebuilder. For example, in each one of the homes we build in the U.S., we require approximately 150 pounds of nails and 400 two-by-fours. With the average Habitat house consisting of 1,200 square feet and three bedrooms, these numbers add up fast—so donations of building materials from corporate manufacturers are welcome!

Additionally, we welcome retailers with overstock items to donate those goods. Donations like these are sold in our Habitat ReStores, with the proceeds furthering our mission.

We enjoy working with corporations who want to donate labor, building materials for home construction, or overstock items for resale!

Help Revitalize the Richmond Community, Today

We help as many families as we can, but the lack of affordable, safe housing remains a critical problem in our area. Habitat for Humanity in the Richmond Metropolitan area is committed to making affordable and safe housing a reality for low-income families. And with the help of donations, volunteers, proceeds from our ReStore, and hard work from our home buyers, we’re making that dream possible for hundreds of residents in the Richmond Metropolitan area.
