Why did you choose to join the Habitat Board?

I was asked by Jane Helfrich, then CEO, to join and get involved in fundraising for the organization. After learning more about the power behind Habitat’s mission and the value it brings to those most in need, I was hooked. I’ve come to see that the power of owning one’s own home is second to none and that all people should have access to this opportunity.

What is unique about being a part of Habitat?

There are so many amazing organizations that serve so many people in need, but at Habitat, affording parents the opportunity to raise their family in a clean and safe environment should be considered the most basic of rights. When done successfully, the ownership of that home sets that family up for generational success, not just for them, but for everyone that interacts with them – it’s contagious!

Which Habitat value resonates most with you the most and why?

Partnership – nothing in life is achieved alone. Habitat cannot do its work without partner families and vice versa. It’s a beautiful cycle of helping everyone succeed.
