Other Ways to Give

How You Can Help Your Community

Any way you choose to support our mission helps make an impact. Your monetary donations and gifts in kind of goods and services enable us to continue breaking the cycle of poverty by providing affordable homes. Learn more about how an affordable home changes lives in our Homeownership Impact Report.

At the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity, there are several ways you can support our community.

Sponsor a Build!

Make a difference and do some team-building at the same time! One of the most impactful ways a company, place of worship, or civic group can get involved with Habitat is to sponsor a build! Sponsoring a build not only helps Habitat, but also secures volunteer opportunities. For more information, contact Jennifer O’Rourke at jorourke@richmondhabitat.org or 804-232-7001 ext. 110.

Matching Gifts

Many employers will match tax-deductible charitable donations made by their employees, retirees and employees’ spouses. Some companies even provide matching funds to support employee volunteer hours. Find out if your company has a matching gift program on our Employer Matching Gift page.

Donate Property

We are actively seeking buildable lots, infill properties, undeveloped land, and existing homes in need of major renovation within our community. If you own property that is unused, difficult to sell, or costly to maintain, Richmond Habitat can transform it into safe, stable housing for a deserving local family. Contact Jennifer O’Rourke at jorourke@richmondhabitat.org or 804-232-7001 ext. 110.

Donate Your Vehicle

Donate your vehicle to our Cars for Homes program to help your community! We accept cars, trucks, RV’s, vans, SUV’s, boats, and motorcycles, whether they are running or not. Towing is free and the process is easy! Visit carsforhomes.org to get started.

Donate Gently Used Items to Our ReStores

Our ReStores are one of our biggest sources of revenue. Proceeds from the ReStores help us cover our overhead expenses so that every donation can go directly towards building homes. To learn more about donating your gently used furniture, home decor, appliances, and building materials, visit our ReStore donation page.

Cause Marketing Partnerships

Many brands and businesses raise money for nonprofits by holding special sales or product promotions and then donating a portion of the proceeds to the organization. We are open to discussing these potential partnership opportunities. Opportunities must be mutually beneficial to both parties and must align with our values. For more information, contact Jennifer O’Rourke at jorourke@richmondhabitat.org or 804-232-7001 ext. 110.

Donate Cryptocurrency

Turn those crypto gains into real change and give the gift of affordable homeownership, today! Here’s how to get started:

  1. Visit Crypto for Charity, where all of our crypto donations are processed.
  2. Select Richmond Metro Habitat for Humanity from the dropdown, and fill out the form. Add contact information so you can get a tax receipt and a thank you letter for the support! We accept all major coins.
  3. Once you submit the form, you’ll see a temporary wallet address to send the coin to.
  4. After the coin has been received, you’ll get a copy of a tax receipt via email.
  5. Behind the scenes, your donated coin will be liquidated and the proceeds will fund the construction of critically needed affordable housing in our area.

Donate Products and Services

One of our most valued donations is the materials used to build homes. Habitat for Humanity regularly ranks as one of the top 20 homebuilders in the U.S. and is the largest privately held homebuilder. In each one of the homes we build, we require approximately 150 pounds of nails and 400 two-by-fours. With the average Habitat house consisting of 1,200 square feet and three bedrooms, these numbers add up fast, so donations of building materials from corporate manufacturers or services are appreciated!

If you have a product or service donation to help with the construction of our homes, please reach out to Christina Hall at chall@richmondhabitat.org.

Additionally, we welcome retailers with overstock items to donate those goods. Donations like these are sold in our Habitat ReStores, with the proceeds furthering our mission. If your business has a donation for our ReStores, please reach out to Doreen Caravaglia at dcaravaglia@richmondhabitat.org.
